Texas Advent, December 21st

The largest urban bat colony in the world lives for much of the year under Austin's Congress Avenue Bridge. Every evening from March to mid-November you can sit on the banks of the Colorado River and watch 1.5 million Mexican free-tailed bats take flight from under the bridge and go on their nightly hunts for mosquitos and other insects.

Release the Bats!

Bats scare the crap out of me! They are like flying rats, and rats as well as alligators are my nightmare!

It's a good thing I didn't mention the flying-alligator bridge, then.
